London has 32 boroughs and the City of London, each with very different crime profiles. We've ranked them all using official Metropolitan Police data so you can find the safest places to live, work, and raise a family.
How We Rank London Boroughs
Our safety scores are built from official police-recorded crime data published by the Metropolitan Police Service and the City of London Police. We calculate a composite score (out of 10) that accounts for:
- Total crime rate — crimes per 1,000 residents over the past 12 months
- Violent crime weighting — violence against the person is weighted more heavily than low-harm offences
- Trend direction — boroughs where crime is falling get a slight boost; rising crime counts against them
- Anti-social behaviour — ASB incidents are included as they affect quality of life

Top 10 Safest London Boroughs 2026
Here are the ten safest boroughs in London, based on the latest 12 months of recorded crime data:
The leafiest borough in London consistently tops safety rankings. Known for Richmond Park, Kew Gardens, and a village-like atmosphere, it blends suburban tranquillity with excellent transport links into central London. Residential burglary and vehicle crime are the most common offences, both at low levels.

- Barnet — crime down 3.2% year-on-year, currently just outside the top 10 with a safety score of 7.6
- Enfield — new investment in CCTV and community policing is showing results, with a 5% reduction in residential burglary
- Croydon — after years of higher crime, the borough has made significant strides, with violent crime down 7% since 2024
