Terms of Use
Last updated: 3 July 2026
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using crimesafe.uk ("the site"), you agree to these terms of use. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
2. What CrimeSafe UK Provides
CrimeSafe UK presents crime statistics, safety scores, and related information for neighbourhoods, streets, and postcodes across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The underlying crime data is published by data.police.uk, the official UK Police open data portal, and is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Safety scores, rankings, and comparisons are our own calculations derived from that data.
3. Accuracy & No Warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. While we aim to keep the information current and accurate, we cannot guarantee it. In particular:
- Crime locations in the source data are deliberately anonymised by the police to protect victims, so map points and street-level figures are approximate.
- The data covers reported crime only โ actual crime levels may differ.
- Data is updated monthly and there is a lag between a crime occurring and it appearing in published statistics.
- Safety scores are statistical estimates, not guarantees about any area, street, or property.
4. Not Professional Advice
Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, insurance, or property advice. Do not rely on the site as the sole basis for decisions such as buying or renting a home, setting insurance terms, or assessing personal safety. Always verify important information with official sources.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the site in a way that disrupts it or degrades it for others, including automated scraping at excessive rates, attempting to bypass security measures, or using the site for any unlawful purpose. You must not use the data or the site to harass, target, or discriminate against any person, group, or community.
6. Intellectual Property & Licensing
The underlying crime data is public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0 โ you are free to use it under that licence's terms, including attribution to the original source. The site's design, text, safety-score methodology, and other original content are the property of CrimeSafe UK. You may quote or reference our pages with attribution and a link; please contact us for any commercial reuse.
7. Embeds
We offer embeddable widgets for displaying neighbourhood safety information on other websites. You may use these free of charge on any lawful website, provided the embed is not modified to remove attribution and is not presented in a misleading context. We may change or withdraw embeds at any time.
8. Advertising & Third-Party Links
The site displays advertising served by Google AdSense and contains links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, products, or practices of advertisers or linked sites. See our Privacy Policy for details on advertising cookies.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CrimeSafe UK will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its data โ including decisions made in reliance on the information presented. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales.
10. Changes
We may update these terms and the site itself at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
